Marc Anthony Douthit, Esq. is the Managing Member of Douthit Law, LLC. Mr. Douthit practices primarily in Corporate Law, Commercial transactions and litigation, Real Estate Development, Small Business Development, Creditor’s Rights and Appellate Law. He has served as outside corporate counsel to a variety of businesses, including TransEd, Inc., MOVERS, Inc. and Miami Ventures, Ltd. In addition to his managing Douthit Law, LLC, he is on loan to DLW Enterprises, Inc. a full service real estate development firm as its Vice President and General Counsel.
Mr. Douthit representative clients have included, Miami-Dade County Housing Authority, BET Event Productions, Inc., MedAssets, Inc., ADF, International, Inc., One United Bank, Source Magazine and Military Funding USA, Inc. In 2002, he was recognized by the Dade County Bar Association with its Pro Bono Award for his commitment to providing free legal services to the poor. In 2001, the South Florida Legal Guide recognized him as one of South Florida’s Top Lawyers in the area of Commercial Law.
Douthit received his undergraduate degree from Emerson College in Boston Massachusetts in 1986 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 1991. After graduation from the University of Miami, Douthit joined the firm of Rice & Reiser as an associate doing bankruptcy litigation. He left in 1992 and practiced for several years as a sole practitioner before forming of Milligan Douthit & Lang. Subsequent to that he became the Managing Partner in the firm of Douthit, Murray & Pierre, P.A. before establishing Douthit Law, LLC in 2007.
He has published several articles, including most recently in the American Bar Association Journal entitled “Humbling Experiences–The trials of Small Claims”, as well as an article titled “Criminal Defense in Juvenile Court” by the National Bar Institute. He is a Past President of the Wilkie D. Ferguson Bar Association and has served as Vice Chair of the Board of Advisors of the Farquahar School of Arts and Sciences at Nova Southeastern University. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Deaf Services Bureau (DSB) of Dade County and served on the Board of Directors of the Legal Services of Greater Miami.
Formerly an Adjunct faculty member at Miami-Dade College, in the Spring of 2000, he returned to the classroom and began teaching Business Law in the Andreas School of Business at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. He has also served on the faculty of Nova Southeastern University teaching American Government and Politics.
Mr. Douthit has testified before a Congressional Field Committee on Police Accountability in the African American Communities in Miami-Dade County. He is a frequent lecturer on political and social affairs, having formerly been utilized as a Political Commentator by WILD Radio in Boston during the 1996 Presidential Campaign. He is a frequent lecturer and presenter of workshops on entrepreneurship and business development. Recently he presented a workshop on behalf of the Global Diversity Group on Developing a Small Business Infrastructure. In 2004 he presented a workshop for the National Bar Association at its National Convention on building and maintaining a law practice.
Mr. Douthit is committed to serving his community and is a proud member of 100 Black Men of South Florida Leadership Academy. He is a member of Kendall Community Church of God and serves as an advisor to many other not for profit groups and church congregations advising them on infrastructure and organizational development.
Jason Joseph
Joseph received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 1997. Prior to joining the firm, he was an Associate with McGhee & Associates, and most recently, he was an Associate with the insurance defense firm of Patricia Cassells & Associates.
He joined the firm to concentrate primarily in the appellate and commercial transaction areas of the practice. He is a native of Dominica and a 1990 graduate of the University of the Virgin Islands.
